PROYECTO LATINA is Proyecto Latina is a multi-media project that amplifies the success and impact of Latinas in our community. Our initiatives include a reading series and a website that allow us to: create a culture of self-empowerment, spotlight emerging and established Latina talent, create safe spaces in under served communities, and provide a virtual platform to chronicle stories, share resources and start dialogue. | |
Join us as we feature the fabulous and fierce Kelly Norman Ellis! Kelly Norman Ellis is an associate professor of English and creative writing at Chicago State University. She is also the director of the MFA in Creative Writing program at CSU. She is a poet whose work has appeared in Sisterfire: Black Womanist Fiction and Poetry, Spirit and Flame, Role Call: A Generational Anthology of Social and Political Black Literature and Art, Boomer Girls, Essence Magazine, Obsidian, Calyx, and Cornbread Nation. She is a recipient of a Kentucky Foundation for Women writer’s grant and is a Cave Canem fellow and founding member of the Affrilachian Poets. She is the author of Tougaloo Blues published by Third World Press and the upcoming Offerings of Desire. Ellis will be reading poems of desire, love and home from her upcoming collection "Offerings of Desire" (upcoming Williow Books). As always, Proyecto Latina is FREE also get there early to sign up for the open mic. Remember the Chisme Box needs to be fed so bring your chismes!
